A week ago I attended the Alt Design Summit in Salt Lake City with my pal Alison and had the best time. It was 3-day conference for lifestyle bloggers.
WHAT KIND OF BLOGGERS? Full on fashion-forward, smart gals who are crafting, designing, photographing, DIY-ing, interior styling, party planning, and just about anything you can do in life and want to blog about, were there.
Marketers and top peeps from HGTV, Sunset Magazine, Martha Stewart Magazine, Chronicle Books, Better Homes and Gardens and others were also there to network and connect up. It was a who’s who of the blogging and social networking world, with a twist of brightly colored leggings and hipster glasses.
Blogging pros and industry gurus, like the founder of Pinterest, were there to speak and give insight, resources and share funny stories of what didn’t work.
I heard about Alt back in November from Oh Happy Day. My goal for going was to amp up my social networking savvy with this blogosphere and gain inspiration.
{ BTW: goal achieved and then some! }
This conference isn’t really about “how to create a blog” more about pushing your blog to the next level. And connecting up.
Here’s my pics from the conference.
Wondering why we’re all wearing white? It was intentional.
At the first night’s party “Dinner En Blanc,” where everyone was asked to wear white. It was quite the winter wonderland scene. Tutus, sparkles, lace — everyone showed that white is no challenge. Was surprised at the variety of whiteness.
Hanging out with our new best friend,Emily Henderson of HGTV’s Secret From a Stylistand HGTV’s Design Star winner. She was super sweet. And has beautiful skin too.
I asked what she does to keep such an impeccable, beautiful face (besides being blessed with amazing genes), and she said she uses Armani foundation.
So excited to meet design and blog queen, Bri Emery of DesignLoveFest. When Tim was in the hospital, I’d check her blog out to escape the drama. She’s got a knack for adding a twist of fun or vibrancy to her photos. She’s definitely an inspiration for me and this blog.
I made friends from Toronto, Australia and places in between. I’m not doing this blog to make money. I’m trying to help myself get through this weird, sad, sunken chapter, and opening myself to new avenues of healing/happiness/creativity.
This conference gave me the confidence to forge ahead with this idea and I look forward to what interesting experience(s), people I met along the way, and the healing that comes forth. So stoked Alison joined me too, we are such goofballs together!
And thank you Alt, looking forward to seeing what 2013 has planned!
