  • MY AWESOME EUROPEAN ADVENTURE

Hello again, folks. It’s been awhile since my last post. And well, I’ve got a really great reason, or several great reasons.

First off, I quit my job mid-May to heal my heart, slow down, and figure out my life. Also was time for me to move forward creatively.

I went back East in June for my Dad’s 60th birthday, then to the midwest in July for my Grandma’s 80th birthday. Meanwhile, working “on my own” on some great client projects that I’ll share with you soon.

And for my 35th birthday (I know, I look 21 but I feel like an old hag at times!). I decided I wanted to do something awesome and adventurous. And Europe was calling in my heart. It’s been calling for a long time, actually. And I have my great friend Mike for reminding me to travel and do things “I” have wanted to do, but had to sideline with Tim’s health.

So for 17 whirlwind days in September, my sister and one of my best friends, Jill, went on a European adventure. We ate great food, met interesting people, saw Mick Jagger, drank fabulous wine, drank true Belgium beer, and toured through so many insanely beautiful and epic churches and museums. It was truly an escape.

I’ll be sharing more of our trip and what I’m up to currently, but this is my lovely teaser for now.

    Ciao & many blessings!

  • JESS & RUSS

One of my favorite designers, Jessica Hische, is getting married to the creative and talented Russ Maschmeyer. And so of course, their wedding invitation website is filled with beautiful type, witty illustrations, and an interesting timeline. She and her fiancé asked 15 of their amazingly creative peeps to help them tell their love story. Check it out here.

  • HAVING A BALL

Just got back from a 10-day trip back East to visit my family. I’m glad to be back in paradise, but miss my family. Took Oliver to the beach this morning and we both had a hoot.

  • I’LL GO IF YOU GO

Still on my adventure buzz from my last post, I wanted to share a photographer that really inspires me. Her name is Nirrimi Hakansan. She’s only 19 years old. And was signed with a photo agency at 16 years old. She’s one motivated and talented whipper snapper.

She and her boyfriend Matt are wanderlusting gypsies originally from Oz and have a way with capturing real moments and telling stories through their photos.

I found this series of photos via Billabong + Foam Magazine’s I’ll Go If You Go online zine. Here are some of my faves Nirrimi shot for the Billabong Spring 2012 European Roadtrip. Makes me giddy for my upcoming Euro trip.

    Ciao, xoxo.

  • TIME FOR ADVENTURE

It’s officially summer, thanks to the June 20th summer solstice. Time to shalack on the sunscreen, enjoy icy treats and relish in the good times.

Last summer was quite a blur for me. I was stoked to re-introduce myself to my quaint beachy, surf town, since the previous summers were filled with intense rollercoasters–and not the fun kind at the fair—more like the emotional kind. I was lovingly devoted to being at Tim’s side either at home or in the hospital, or chained to the intense deadlines at work.

And although I was able to enjoy time at the beach last year, one might think sitting at a beach should bring one happiness, it did in many ways, don’t get me wrong, but at the same time, it filled my heart and mind with so many great memories that I shared with Tim, so it was very sad, numbing, and surreal.

So this summer, I’m ready to enjoy life again, explore and create some new memories.

Get the salt in my hair. Spend time with friends (from my past and new ones that I have yet to meet). Barbecues. Outdoor festivals and fairs. Fireworks lighting up the sky. Road trips. And more.

Enjoying your summertime doesn’t involve lots of money or lots of work. Just the right mindset.

Thought these few things might inspire your summer agenda too. Above art from here.

    Enjoy your summer peeps! xoxo
